It has been a while since Subira told you to wait for word from her about the Royal Highlands in Palia. You should check in to see if she’s had any luck acquiring a boat for the journey.
Rejoin Subira, Tamala, and Ulfe to venture into the Royal Highlands area. It’s been hundreds of years since maps of the area were even updated, so be ready for the unexpected.
Prerequisites For The ‘A Royal Welcome’ Quest

If you haven’t finished the Elderwood main story, it is best to complete that area first before venturing to the Royal Highlands. There may be confusion and spoilers if you go before completing the Elderwood story.
Here are the quests you should complete before venturing to the new area:
- Complete main story quests through ‘Something Wicked‘.
- Complete ‘Even As A Shadow‘ quest.
- Complete the ‘Do Not Go Gentle‘ quest.
- Complete the ‘All That Is Not Gold‘ quest.
- Complete ‘The Road Not Taken‘ quest.
- Complete the ‘A Thousand Slimy Things‘ quest.
- Complete the ‘Even As A Dream‘ quest.
How To Get The ‘A Royal Welcome’ Quest In Palia

When the prerequisites have been completed, you’ll automatically receive the ‘A Royal Welcome’ quest. There is nothing special to do beyond finishing the main story for the Elderwood area.
You can check the status of this quest by visiting the main menu ‘Quests’ tab. In the Quests section, you’ll find it on the ‘Main Story’ tab in the ‘Main’ category.
Meet With Subira

When you receive the ‘A Royal Welcome’ quest, you will be prompted to visit the De Mer Docks in the Elderwood. If you use the fast-travel board, you’ll need to follow the bridge path to the northeast to find Tamala, Subira, and Ulfe.
To get to the Royal Highlands, you’ll need to approach the gate near the travel board at the De Mer Docks. Interact with the gate to travel to the new area.
Subira, Tamala, and Ulfe will be waiting for you when you arrive. Approach them to automatically begin a conversation.
Proceed ahead to the hunting camp. Follow the navigation bar at the top of the screen, which should have a quest marker of Subira’s profile picture.
Once you approach the camp, another conversation will automatically begin. You’ll need to explore the area for the source of Echo Ulfe senses.
You should see a main-quest marker on the navigation bar at the top of your screen in a western direction. The quest will say to investigate the “Lonely Glen” for disturbances.
Talk to Hassian when you encounter him. Use your pickaxe to break the horse free from the amber encasing its hooves.
During this time, you’ll get an additional quest called ‘Before The Dawn‘. Collect 3 local flowers for the horse. There should be Dawnspur Lilies nearby.
Return to the horse when you’ve collected the flowers. A conversation will automatically begin.
Go back to the hunting camp. You should see Subira’s quest marker in the navigation bar at the top of the screen to help guide you. The area should also be marked on the map.
After the automatic conversation ensues, follow everyone using the quest marker guides in the navigation bar or the map markers. You should be able to ride your new horse by opening your tool wheel and selecting the horse.

Follow the main road to meet up with the others. Another conversation will automatically begin when you catch up to Hassian.
Continue along the path to meet with Ulfe and Hassian again. Enter the cave and search it for 3 signs of the beast.
Answers For The 3 Beast Clues
You should find the following clues:
- Scratches on one of the cave walls.
- A campfire.
- A large dirt mound.
Once you’ve investigated all 3 clues, talk to Hassian. Leave the cave and continue on the main path to meet up with Subira and Tamala.
After the automatic conversation, wait for Hassian and Ulfe to arrive. Once they arrive, continue to follow Ulfe to the next map location.
A cutscene will play once you reach the proper location. After a conversation, the quest will complete and you’ll automatically receive the next quest, ‘Administrative Access‘.
