The Elderwood in Palia has been suffering the effects of the Echo for much too long. Your efforts to cleanse the Zendruu Tree are are almost complete, which will hopefully help the entire forest.
Join Subira, Tamala, and Ulfe to collect the last Flowflower needed for the ritual cleansing. Learn more about the mysterious Beast of the Umbraan War during this quest.
Prerequisites For ‘A Thousand Slimy Things’
To gain access to the ‘A Thousand Slimy Things’ quest in Palia, you’ll need to do the following:
- Have access to the Elderwood.
- Complete the main story quests through ‘Something Wicked‘.
- Complete ‘Even As A Shadow‘ quest.
- Complete ‘Do Not Go Gentle‘ quest.
- Complete ‘All That Is Not Gold‘ quest.
- Complete ‘The Road Not Taken‘ quest.
The quests listed individually will need to be completed in order. If you’ve started the questline to cleanse the Zendruu Tree but aren’t sure what quest you’re on, you can check your ‘Completed’ quests or your active quests to find which of the above quests you have.
How To Get The ‘A Thousand Slimy Things’ Quest
Once you’ve completed the prerequisites, you will automatically be given the ‘A Thousand Slimy Things’ quest. You can check the status of the quest any time from the main menu ‘Quests’ section.
It will appear in the ‘Main Story’ tab under the ‘Main’ category, as displayed in the picture above.
Follow Tamala To The Flowflower
Tamala has an idea where the next Flowflower is located. Follow her marker in the navigation bar at the top of your screen to find the Flowflower.
Talk to Tamala once you arrive. Follow Ulfe to the first spot to gather the necessary items.
You can use his marker on the navigation bar to find the proper location. You’ll need to go back into the tunnels to get to the right area.
Use your watering can at the pedestal behind Ulfe to fill it. Then use your axe to remove the vines surrounding the toy in the tunnels.
Chat with Ulfe once you’ve obtained the Creepy Doll toy. Follow Ulfe’s icon on the navigation bar to progress to the next location.
It should be just a short distance still inside the tunnels. Talk to Ulfe once you arrive. You’ll need to return to the pedestal and fill it with water again.
Return to Ulfe’s location and use the axe to chop the vines surrounding the second object. Pick up the object and chat with Ulfe.
Continue down the tunnel, following Ulfe’s icon on the navigation bar. He’ll be in one of the rooms joining the tunnel.
Talk to him once you catch up. There will be three items covered with vines in the room, as well as a pedestal.
Use the pedestal in the room to gain the ability to chop the vines. You can only choose one of the items. Talk to Ulfe to give him the item you chose.
Return to the Flowflower and talk to Tamala. You can use the navigation bar to find her if necessary.
Tamala has set up three braziers for the ritual to cleanse the last Flowflower. Use your bow to fire at the braziers and light them in the proper order.
Brazier Puzzle Answer
Fire at the brazier with the plush in front of it, then the brazier with the box in front, then the brazier with the item you chose.
The flames don’t look like the typical flames for these puzzles, and are difficult to see. You should hear a distinct sound, however, if you choose the correct brazier and order.
If the braziers don’t seem to respond try tabbing out of the game and tabbing back, or changing out a tool and re-equipping the bow.
Some people have had luck with logging out of the game at this point, and logging back in. If you’ve been stuck, and are no longer in the quest area, go back to the Elderwood Central Stables.
Pass through the Echo Wall there, and take the first left once you’re in the tunnels. You should then have a marker on your navigation bar to help you get to Tamala once you pass through the second Echo Wall into the quest area.
Once the braziers have been properly lit, collect the final Flowflower. Talk to either Tamala, Subira, or Ulfe. You’ll automatically recieve the next quest, ‘Even As A Dream’.
