It has been years since the Umbraan War in Palia, but the aftereffects still linger. You’ll need to find a second Echoling to get another Flowflower if you want to cleanse the Zendruu Tree.
Work with Subira, Tamala, and Ulfe to bring some relief to the Echo ghosts of the past. You may learn more about the war as you help the Echoling.
Prerequisites For The ‘All That Is Not Gold’ Quest
Before you can get the ‘All That Is Not Gold’ quest, you’ll have to do the following:
- Have access to the Elderwood.
- Complete the main story through ‘Something Wicked‘.
- Complete ‘Even As A Shadow‘ quest.
- Complete the ‘Do Not Go Gentle‘ quest.
How To Get The ‘All That Is Not Gold’ Quest
You won’t need to do anything special to get the ‘All That Is Not Gold’ quest, besides the prerequisites. Once you’ve completed the ‘Do Not Go Gentle’ quest, you’ll automatically receive the ‘All That Is Not Gold’ quest.
You’ll be able to check the status of it in the ‘Main Story’ tab of the ‘Quests’ section in the menu. It will show up under the ‘Main’ category as displayed in the picture above.
Find Another Echoling
Once you have the ‘All That Is Not Gold’ quest, you’ll need to find another Echoling protecting a Flowflower. If you’ve left the area, you can return to the proper location by heading through the Echo Wall in the Elderwood Central Stables.
Take the first left you see after heading through the Echo Wall. Pass through another Echo Wall, and you should reach the proper questing area.
Ulfe, Subira, and Tamala will already be standing at the location if you have trouble finding the next Echoling. They’ll be near the bridge at the entrance to the area (the Echo Wall doorway).
Chat with the Echoling once you find it. After the conversation, meet with the others to discuss the situation. Talk to either Subira or Tamala to begin the discussion.
Use the diary picture to search for Ralf. The diary can be accessed in your backpack under the ‘Key Items’ section.
Select the exclamation point for quest items. The diary will look like a book with a brown cover. When you hover over it, it will be titled ‘Diary of an Umbraan Child‘.
You can read the book whenever you need to check the picture. When you get close to the proper area your navigation bar at the top of your screen will light up.
There will be a bouncy flower to interact with to easily get you onto the first level of the rock formation. Explore the level to get more information from the diary.
You’ll then need to look around that same level for a set of tracks. When you’re close enough, you’ll be able to inspect the tracks.
Follow the tracks Ralf left behind. They will have a subtle sparkle swirl to help you locate them. Approach the Echo blob on the ground when you find it to get more information from the diary.
Enter through the Echo Wall under the tree to visit the cave. Use standard arrows that you’re given to fire at the braziers.

Fire at the rune symbols on the braziers to light them. Here is the proper order shown in the pictures:
Return to the Echoling to reunite Ralf with his father. Before you leave the cave, you have the option to speak with Subira, Tamala, and Ulfe for some extra dialogue.
Chat with the Echoling when you arrive. Collect the Flowflower, and talk to Subira. Talk to Ulfe about the situation. You’ll automatically receive the next quest, ‘The Road Not Taken‘ to continue the story.
