In Palia you never know who may come to your aid. It seems you and Subira aren’t the only curious people braving the Elderwood to investigate.
In addition to trying to find a missing boy in the Elderwood, you still need to take care of the investigation tasks that originally drew you there. Help Subira with tasks to gather intel about the area.
Prerequisites For ‘The Nature Of Shadows’
To get ‘The Nature of Shadows’ quest, you’ll need to complete the following:
You’ll automatically get ‘The Nature of Shadows’ when you complete ‘The Elderwood’ quest. You can check the status of the quest in the main menu under the ‘Quests’ section. It’ll be under the ‘Main Story’ tab.
Speak To Subira
Talk to Subira to continue ‘The Nature of Shadows’ quest. You should have a chat option saying “I’m ready to keep investigating”.
Subira has noticed the strange energy, or essence, in the Elderwood. She wants to take some samples to see how the Elderwood is being affected.
Collect the following items:
- 20 Stone
- 10 Whitestone
- 10 Palium Ore
Once you’ve collected all the minerals, return to Subira and show her what you’ve found. After talking to Subira and Tamala, meet Subira at the Eastern stables exit to discuss the situation.
Return to Tamala and accept the offer of help. It turns out that she doesn’t have the potion ready yet, and needs help acquiring certain ingredients.
Collect the following items:
- 1 Cave Piksii
- 1 Toadstool Floatfish
- 3 Elderwood Orchid
- 10 Infected Essence
Tamala will give you a pair of gloves that will allow you to interact with the Infected Essence blobs you’ve probably seen in the Elderwood.
Deliver the ingredients to Tamala once you’ve collected everything. Drink the potion when you’re ready to collect the necessary samples from infected plants.
- 5 Infected Plants
- 50 Infected Essence
| If your potion runs out during the quest, return to Tamala. You should have access to her shop which will have more of the Elderwood potion you need. |
Return to Subira and talk to her to hand over the samples. She’ll tell you what she needs next and give you a choice of hunting, fishing, or bug-catching.
Depending on your choice, you’ll need to speak to the corresponding mentor to find out how you can catch infected creatures. This will complete ‘The Nature of Shadows’, and automatically give you a quest related to the activity choice you made.
