There are plenty of celebrations in Disney Dreamlight Valley, from special events, to more intimate celebrations hosted by Disney characters. Each one has its own special flair.
This celebration is also special. Cogsworth and Lumiere want to celebrate you, and everything you’ve done to help them with the castle cleanup and mystery.

Prerequisites To ‘A Guide To Better Castle-Keeping’
To get the quest, ‘A Guide To Better Castle-Keeping’ you’ll need to do the following:
- Welcome Belle to the valley.
- Welcome Beast to the valley.
- Complete ‘The Haunting Of The Beast’s Castle‘ quest.
- Complete the ‘A Growing Mystery‘ quest.
- Complete the ‘Belle, Book, And Candle‘ quest.
You’ll automatically receive the quest after the completion of the ‘Belle, Book, And Candle’ quest. You’ll be able to check the status in the main menu ‘Quests’ section once you have it.
Talk To Cogsworth
To begin the ‘A Guide To Better Castle-Keeping’ quest, you’ll need to return to the Beast’s castle if you’re not there already. Talk to Cogsworth to officially begin the quest.
Everyone is busy with plans for the party, but instead of waiting around you’ll be allowed to help with a few small tasks. You’ll need to visit the cellar, located in the garden, and find the Fine Cutlery.
| While you’re in the garden, if there are dusty areas, you can use your Royal Watering Can to do some cleaning up. You should get pieces of a painting as you clean. |
Cogsworth will be waiting by the stairs that lead into the cellar area. It’s near the entrance to the garden.
Interact with the door to the cellar to loot the Fine Cutlery. You won’t actually enter the cellar, and you won’t need to search.
Return to the grand piano area and then interact with the sparkling spot by the tables to place the Fine Cutlery. Talk with Lumiere after setting the table.
Once you convince Lumiere to let you help, find the following ingredients in the castle:
- Oyster
- Creepy Crawly Crab
- Chilling Cucumber
- Booyère Cheese
- Screamed Butter
You’ll need to have 5 free spaces in your inventory to continue. Collect the items, then head to the storage area for the stove.
Search area answers.
Visit the Library to find ingredients.
Visit the storage area to find the rest of the ingredients.
Use the cooking station to cook a Charcuterie Board. The recipe should appear at the top of the list of available recipes. It will have a quest marker in the upper left corner of the recipe.
You’ll also need 1 coal for the cooking process, but you should be able to use coal from your storage. Return to the grand piano area and interact to place the Charcuterie Board.
Talk to Cogsworth to see if there’s anything else to do for the party. Collect the following materials:
- 8 Castle Softwood
- 3 Rainbow Rose Bouquets
- 3 Castle Detritus
You can gather the materials through cleaning up any remaining obstacles in the garden area. If you’ve already done some of the cleaning up, you should already have most of the materials.
Castle Detritus location.
The Castle Detritus will be in a burlap bag in the outer part of the maze area, near the crafting bench.
Interact with the crafting station in the garden area to create 1 set of Rose Garlands. The crafting recipe should appear at the top of the recipes in the ‘Functional Items’ tab.
Return to the grand piano area. There should be a sparkling spot across from the piano near the balcony wall to place the Rose Garlands.
Cogsworth may be standing near the sparkling area, and you may need to walk into him to move him away so you can properly interact.
Talk to Cogsworth to let him know that the work is finished. Equip the Masquerade Mask you found earlier from your Wardrobe interface.
You should see a Cogsworth icon at the top of the menu. If you interact with it, you should be able to find the proper mask right away.
Once you have the mask equipped, take a selfie with Cogsworth, Lumiere, and the Rose Garlands in the picture. Lumiere and Cogsworth will then have a conversation about the good old castle days.
Talk to Cogsworth or Lumiere about the party. Return to Dreamlight Valley with Lumiere.
Talk to Lumiere to officially welcome him to Dreamlight Valley. Then show him inside the Beast’s home.
Talk to the Beast to reunite him with Lumiere. Bring the Beast’s letter to Cogsworth back in the Beast’s castle realm.
Talk to Cogsworth to inform him of the Beast’s new orders. Return to Dreamlight Valley and welcome him.
Talk to Cogsworth to lead him to the Beast’s home, then talk to him again once he’s been welcomed. After the conversations, the quest will complete.
