Beast’s castle has always been a bit mysterious, but this time things seem gloomy and oppressive. Even the garden looks unkempt.
Cogsworth and Lumiere might not know exactly what’s happening, but they know how to clean up a castle. Help them tidy up the castle while searching for clues about the mysterious happenings.

Prerequisites For The ‘A Growing Mystery’ Quest
To get the ‘A Growing Mystery’ quest, you’ll need to do the following:
- Welcome Belle to the valley.
- Welcome Beast to the valley.
- Complete ‘The Haunting Of The Beast’s Castle’ quest.
You can check the status of this quest any time from the main menu ‘Quests’ section.
Talk To Cogsworth
To begin the ‘A Growing Mystery’ quest, you’ll need to talk to Cogsworth.
He will be at the garden in the Beauty and the Beast realm, near the stairs leading back into the castle.
If you left the realm after ‘The Haunting Of The Beast’s Castle’, you’ll find him back at the center of the garden. You’ll need to head to the Beast’s room in the castle and search for the Rose Seeds.
You should find a crate to interact with in the room. All 4 Rose Seeds should be in that crate.
Return to the garden with the seeds. Plant the seeds at the plots in the garden’s center. Clear any obstacles that might be in the way.
Talk to Cogsworth once you’ve planted the seeds to find out why there are no roses. He’ll recommend a special fertilizer for the rose bushes.
You’ll need to gather the following materials:
- 10 Castle Softwood
- 3 Rich Soil
- 3 Castle Stone
If you cleaned up the garden’s night thorns and rock heaps, you should have everything you need. There’s a crafting bench near the stairway into the castle that you can use.
You’ll find the Rose Fertilizer in the ‘Potion & Enchantment’ section of the ‘Crafting Recipes’. You only need to make 1 Rose Fertilizer.
Use the Rose Fertilizer from your inventory to add it to your Royal Watering Can. Equip the Royal Watering Can and water the rosebushes you just planted.
You’ll then need to gather 6 Rainbow Roses. These will be strewn along the walking path near the center garden.
Talk to Cogsworth again to show him the roses. He may occasionally glitch into the lamppost, but you should still be able to chat with him.
You’ll need to put the Rainbow Roses into 3 empty vases. Head back to the spot with the grand piano in it. The 3 vases you need should all be in that room.
They’ll be marked with swirling petals. Interact and then transfer the flowers from your inventory to the vases.
You’ll then need to pick up some more items that appear:
- Domestic Manual Page 2
- First Enigmatic Key
Talk to Cogsworth, who should now be near the grand piano. You’ll have another option to affect how the rest of your time in the castle proceeds with a question during the conversation.
The quest will end once you finish the conversation. You’ll automatically get the next quest called, ‘Belle, Book, and Candle‘.
