In Palia, each skill you can obtain is taught by a mentor. The mentor for fishing is Einar, and he’ll play a key role in your ability to sample aquatic wildlife in the Elderwood.

You can usually find him at the docks of Fisherman’s Lagoon enjoying his favorite pastime, or rather, his oneness. He’s the best person to talk to about the fishy things happening in the Elderwood waters.

Talk To Einar

Palia character Einar in a discussion for the 'Something Fishy' quest.

You’ll need to begin by talking to Einar. After you explain that you need his help catching infected fish, he’ll agree to help.

To make the kind of lure you’ll need, he needs to study the wildlife of the Elderwood. Bring him the following:

  • 3 Uninfected (normal) Fish
  • 10 Infected Essence

When you have all those, return to Einar and talk to him to deliver the ingredients. You’ll receive an Elderwood Lure, as well as the recipe to craft more whenever you need.

If you don’t end up with an Elderwood Lure, you’ll need to craft one before you can continue.

Craft an Elderwood Lure with the following:

  • 1 Elderwood Orchid
  • 3 Palium Ore
  • 10 Infected Essence

To continue your investigation of the Elderwood, you’ll need to collect the following for Subira:

5 Infected Fish

50 Infected Essence

You’ll need to equip the Elderwood Lure, then find dark purple fishing spots. You’ll get the infected fish from those fishing spots, but not with regular fishing.

Return to Subira and talk to her to hand over the samples. You’ll have the option to tell Subira you’d like to catch infected bugs, or hunt infected creatures if you haven’t done those already.
