There is no shortage of new things to explore and discover in The Elderwood. The corruption is the most urgent matter, but Subira also wants to see how the local wildlife and plants are faring in the presence of the corruption.
You’ll be able to chat with Auni for some expert bug-catching advice to help you collect samples from The Elderwood for Subira. You’ll need special tools to be able to access corrupted samples.
Prerequisites For ‘Bugging Out’

In order to get the ‘Bugging Out’ quest, you’ll need to do the following:
- Complete ‘The Nature of Shadows‘ quest.
Either choose bug-catching at the end of ‘The Nature of Shadows’ quest, or talk to Subira and select bug-catching at a later time. You’ll be able to check the status of the quest at any time by visiting the ‘Quests’ section
Talk To Auni

It’s the perfect time for Auni to shine. Normal bug-catching tactics aren’t working in the Elderwood.
Talk to Auni about the situation. He knows exactly who to consult to make a different type of smoke bomb that can tackle the corrupted bugs.
You’ll need to travel to Bahari Bay to meet Auni and Najuma at Najuma’s house. If you try to chat with Najuma during the Maji Market, it will automatically progress the quest dialogue.
You’ll need to collect some materials for Najuma to test:
- 3 Batterfly Beans
- 3 Piksii Berries
- 3 Staircase Mushrooms
- 10 Infected Essence
You’ll also have an optional part of the quest to track down Auni and make sure he’s doing okay in the Elderwood. If you want to find Auni, you’ll be able to see his marker on the map.
Once you’ve collected all the necessary materials, return to Najuma in Bahari Bay. Talk to her to let her know you have everything she needs.
You’ll receive 20 Elderwood Smoke Bombs, as well as the recipe to make more.
