The situation in Storybook Vale keeps getting more interesting. As soon as you find an answer to one question, it seems more questions crop up.
Trying to find the true source of the trouble in Storybook Vale has proven more challenging than expected, and Aurora may be the key to learning the truth. Find out more about Aurora’s location, and get one step closer to a solution.
Prerequisites For ‘A Hero Of Ink And Paper’
Before you can get the ‘A Hero of Ink and Paper’ quest, you’ll need to do the following:
- Have Storybook Vale expansion.
- Have Flynn Rider unlocked.
- Complete ‘The Missing Princess‘ quest.
- Complete ‘The Unwritten Realms: Maleficent’s Gift‘ quest.
You can check the status of the quest in the main menu, under the ‘Quests’ section. It should be automatically given upon completing ‘The Missing Princess’ quest.
Talk To The Lorekeeper
The Lorekeeper has been instrumental in helping you try to restore Storybook Vale, and also happens to be the last person to see Aurora. You’ll need to start this quest by having a little chat with the Lorekeeper again.
You’ll need to follow Aurora into the tapestry to try and help her get back to Storybook Vale. Interact with the tapestry. Talk to the Lorekeeper again.
The Lorekeeper now remembers that Aurora hid a note about entering the tapestry in the chamber beneath the bridge in the Bind. You’ll be looking for a sparkling piece of paper on the floor once you get there.
Aurora has divided the book, or tome, into two parts and hidden them separately. They contain the secrets of helping the tapestry recognize you as a hero.
You’ll need to search for one part “near the Fallen Fortress’ crumbling walls”, and the other “near a windmill in Mythopia”. You’ll be looking for a sparkling book lying on the ground.
In-Game Locations of Tomes (Books)
You’ll need to travel to Mount Olympus to search for the second tome.
Bring the two parts, or volumes, of the Fairy Tale Book to the Lorekeeper. Luckily, the Lorekeeper can sift through the contents of books quickly to give you the information you need.
You’ll need to begin by talking to the following villagers:
- Maleficent
- Hades
- Flynn
- Merida
Once you’ve talked to all the characters listed above, you’ll need to complete the next part. You’ll need to collect certain materials from Storybook Vale.

When you’ve acquired all the materials you need, your next step is to visit a crafting station and make the ‘Hero of the Vale’ costume. You’ll find the costume in the ‘Functional Items’ tab of the crafting recipes.
After you make the costume, return to the Lorekeeper and give it to her. The Lorekeeper will add the finishing touch to the garment and then you can change into it.
You can quickly access the garment in the wardrobe menu by using the quest-related icon under the ‘Requests’ section. Once you’re wearing the new clothes, head to the tapestry and interact once again.
Once you enter the tapestry, you’ll need to explore the area for signs of Aurora. This will be a new quest, however, called ‘The Ink-Stained World‘.
