One of the interesting elements of Hello Kitty Island Adventure is the overarching story of the island. There are many side stories that keep things interesting as well, but the main story helps guide you through the different biomes and gives you a main purpose.

Many of the main story parts also coordinate with certain Sanrio characters. For the ‘Fire Up The Volcano’ quest you can probably guess that it’s related to Retsuko. Find out what you need to do to get the quest and continue with the main story.

There are a few checkpoints you’ll need to meet before you can receive this quest:

  • Complete ‘Power Up The Gate’ quest.
  • Have access to Mount Hothead.
  • Reach friendship level 11 with Retsuko.
  • Complete ‘Enraging Ruins‘ quest.

If you’re not sure if you have this quest, check your Active Quests menu. It will show up under the ‘The Island Mystery’ section of quests. If you already have the quest you can proceed by talking with Keroppi.

Talk To Keroppi

Once you have the ‘Fire Up The Volcano’ quest, your first order of business is to track down Keroppi. You can find him wandering around the ruins entrance in the Mount Hothead region.

Keroppi noticed there’s no flowing lava, and thinks singing a lullaby to the volcano might help. He wants you to find someone who can sing, and Retsuko may be just the person you need.

Talk To Retsuko

You’ll find Retsuko near the Hot Springs fast-travel waypoint if you’ve finished the ‘Engraging Ruins’ quest. Talk to her to see if she’s willing to try singing a lullaby.

Meet back up with Keroppi. Retsuko will follow automatically. Talk to Keroppi to introduce him officially to Retsuko. After a short discussion, you’ll enter the ruins which will have a blue exclamation point over the entrance. It’s an entrance to the left of the main ruins entrance.

Remember to check each area for treasure chests, new critters, and gudetama.

Once the lava starts flowing again, you can jump across the square stone panels in the lava to cross to the other side. If you stay too long on one of the stone panels, it will sink.

There’s a minecart track at the other side. Pull the lever to hop in and ride to the next destination. Follow the path forward and up a small hill to reach the next entrance. Again, there’ll be a blue exclamation point over the proper entrance.

Once you enter the new area, follow the main path to the next minecart tracks. Hit the lever to use the minecart. You’ll arrive in an area with staircases on either side of the landing.

If you walk forward a little, you’ll receive a small cutscene and Retsuko will try to bring back the lava again. This is the second lava pool.

More floating stone squares will show up. You’ll need to cross them to continue. You can take the path on the left side to reach some treasure. The path to the right leads you to the next doorway.

Make your way through the door and into the next area. There’s nothing to do here other than explore and follow the path to the next set of minecart tracks. The lever will have the blue exclamation point above it.

When you reach the last dormant lava pool, Keroppi feels that something still isn’t quite right with the lava flow of the volcano. He wants to keep checking out the volcano.

You can simply run across the stone pathway that appears in the lava. Go through the doorway with the blue exclamation point. If you haven’t activated it already, make sure to activate the fast-travel waypoint nearby.

Climb up to the rock above the fast-travel waypoint and head to the left. Follow the rock path until you reach the area with a blue exclamation point.

Equip the gear you’ve been given by Retsuko to help with the final part of the lava flow repair. Chat with Retsuko after you’ve changed clothes. The quest will be complete after the dialogue.
