One of the great parts about Disney Dreamlight Valley is how the characters interact with one another. There are entertaining snippets of dialogue being shared at times, and upon occasion quests that involve dealing with multiple characters.
This is the first quest that will let us know how well Alice will fit into the valley, and how she’ll get along with the variety of interesting villagers.
Prerequisites For ‘Books With No Pictures’ Quest

To get this quest you’ll need to meet a few requirements.
- Have the following characters in your valley:
- Vanellope
- Ursula
- Remy
- Mirabel
- Alice friendship level 2
- Access to Dazzle Beach biome
To begin the quest, just speak with Alice once all the prerequisites are met.
Speak With Vanellope

Alice has just met Vanellope and is “preparing” to be her friend. She wants to share some books with Vanellope and needs to talk to Merlin.
While she finds out about the valley library, she needs you to talk to Vanellope about hanging out together. Vanellope agrees to hang out with Alice, and you both need to meet Alice at the library.
As a reminder, the library is just Merlin’s tower. If you’ve moved it to a floating island, use one of the regular wells to fast travel there.
Alice and Vanellope should show up there without any issue, even on a floating island. Talk to Alice once you arrive in the library. Feel free to encourage Alice to investigate Merlin’s book during the dialogue.
Find The Missing Magical Nouns

When you check on the book that Merlin is working on, Vanellope discovers that the words are moving. Before you know it, all the words have left the book completely.
It’s time to put things back the way they were, but you’ll need some help to find those magical words. You’re looking for magical nouns first.
Talk to the following villagers:
- Mickey Mouse
- Goofy
- Scrooge McDuck
Gone Fishing

After you chat with Mickey Mouse, he’ll suggest that you have a chat with Goofy. Goofy will show you what he fished up in the Peaceful Meadow.
You’ll need to fish up 2 more nouns from the ponds in the Peaceful Meadow. They should be easy to spot. There will be sparkles, and letters inside the bubbles that are emanating from the fishing ripple spots.
You can find the nouns in your inventory. They’ll look like a bass fish, with blue floating letters coming from the fish.
Sometimes the sparkling ripples may overlay other normal fishing ripples. Once you fish up a regular fish, you should be able to fish again to get the noun fish.
Once you’ve collected all 3 nouns, return to Alice. Give the nouns to Alice. Now it’s time to search for the magical missing verbs.
Magic Verb Hunt

Magic verbs are tricky to catch. You’ll need to search the Plaza for verbs. They’ll look like speedy rabbits that leave trails of magic letters as they run.
They’ll head to the Dream Castle once they’ve been cornered. Head into the castle to continue your hunt.
The rabbits are fast, so you may want to make sure your energy bar is yellow so you can use the sprint function. Once you catch 3 magic verbs, return to Alice.
Find Magic Adjectives

The next missing magic words to find are adjectives. Check around fruit trees and shrubs.
There are a total of 3 adjectives to find. Once you try to catch the adjectives, it turns out that some are missing and you can’t collect them.
You may find yourself with only one adjective in your inventory. To find out more about the missing adjectives, talk to the following villagers:
- Ursula
- Mirabel
- Remy
Once you’ve chatted with villagers, check Mickey Mouse’s house for the remaining adjective. It should be on the refrigerator.
Interact with the fridge to obtain the remaining adjective. You should have all three adjectives showing in your inventory now.
They’ll just appear as floating letters. Return the adjectives to Alice. You’ll need to choose your favorite words from the ones you collected when talking to Alice so she can make them into a poem.
Listen To Alice Read The Poem To Merlin

When you return the adjectives to Alice, she’ll explain she wants to make a little poem for Merlin before she puts the words back in the book.
As soon as the dialogue is done she’ll head to find Merlin. You’ll need to follow her right away to be able to find out the poem she rewrote with your word choices.
Talk to Merlin afterwards to find out his thoughts about the poem. Next, craft a Literary Pop-up Book.
At the crafting bench, you’ll find the recipe for the Literary Pop-up Book under the ‘Furniture’ tab. You’ll need the following items to craft it:
- 4 Sunflower
- 9 Softwood
- 5 Pink Hydrangea
- 12 Fiber
Once you craft the book, talk to Alice about spending time with the magical words.
Make A Cozy Reading Room

Alice wants to share the new Literary Pop-up Book with Vanellope. She’ll ask if it’s okay to meet at your house for reading time.
You’ll need to set up a cozy reading space for the three of you. There are a list of decorations you’ll need to incorporate into your cozy room:
- Literary Pop-Up Book
- Rug
- Table
- 2 Lights
- 3 Calm furniture pieces
You can see the acceptable items to place in your furniture menu. Each category of item has a separate Alice icon. Check each icon to include the proper items.
Alice and Vanellope will follow you to your house. You can change an existing room, or if you have an unused room on any floor you can go to that floor.
When you’ve finished decorating, talk to Alice. You’ll need to choose more words from the ones you previously collected.
Then you’ll read the book to Alice and Vanellope, complete with the words you chose. It’ll most likely be a silly story, but we know Vanellope won’t mind.
