A new mysterious door is available to explore in the Dreamlight Castle of Disney Dreamlight Valley. The thunderbolt on the door gives you a clue as to who might be inside.
Explore the Hercules Realm and help Phil with his predicament. What could have caused the gods to be so upset?

Prerequisites For ‘The Moonlighting As A Hero’ Quest
Before you can get the ‘Moonlighting As A Hero’ quest, you’ll need to do the following:
- Have access to the Dreamlight Valley castle.
- Unlock the Hercules Realm (14,000 Dreamlight).
- Enter the Hercules Realm.
- Have some food for a yellow energy bar.
You can check the status of the quest by visiting the main menu ‘Quests’ section. It will appear with a Phil icon once you have the quest.
Talk To Phil
Once you enter the Hercules Realm, you’ll see a short cutscene. Explore the area to find Phil, and talk to him once you’ve found him.
Investigate the nearby thorns after talking to Phil. You’ll receive a hint about dealing with the thorns.
In-game Hint
“If you need help from the moonlight, a gift to the gods will brighten the night.”
Talk to Phil again after your investigation. You’ll need to use the Royal Fishing Rod to fish in the pool of water for a Moon Headband.
Once you fish up the headband, interact with the pedestal near the pool of water. You’ll be able to place the Moon Headband on the pedestal.
Talk to Phil once the headband has been placed. You’ll need to find more things to place on Artemis’ pedestal.
Gather the following items:
- 3 piles of Greek Clay
- 3 Greek Flowers
- 3 Sylvan Wood
You’ll find everything you need right in the main area. Interact with Artemis’ pedestal once you have collected everything.
After placing the items you collected, and a conversation with Phil, you’ll be able to pick up the Moon Headband from the pedestal.
Equip the Moon Headband by accessing the ‘Wardrobe’ function from your inventory. Use the Phil icon shortcut to quickly find the Moon Headband.
Once the headband is equipped, follow Phil to the set of thorns blocking the path. Approach the thorns and interact to remove them.
Clear out all the thorns so Phil can follow you to the arena. Talk to Phil once you arrive at the arena. Phil should get a quest marker above his head once he’s ready to talk to you.
Phil wants to test your hero ability before sending you to find Hercules. You’ll need to complete an obstacle course using your Royal Tools and Dreamlight Magic abilities.
The challenge won’t begin until you interact with the starting line, so you can begin when you’re ready. Phil should be standing next to the starting line ribbon.
Interact with the ribbon when you’re ready to begin the challenge. Try collecting all the coins while you’re completing the obstacle course.
You’ll need to use the Royal Pickaxe, and remove thorns. Light up 5 Artemis pedestals to remove the fog blocking your way forward.
The challenge is timed, but you’ll also be able to use your sprint ability during the challenge, so make sure you’ve eaten enough to have some yellow energy bar.
If you complete all the tasks and collect all the coins, you’ll receive a yellow treasure chest at the end of the course. Talk to Phil once you’ve collected the treasure chest.
You’ll then be able to enter the Dark Woods. You can remove the obstacles by the Cooking Station at the arena to reveal a green treasure chest.
You’ll also collect 2 Orichalcum Ore and 4 Hephaestus Coals. You’ll also get 3 Greek Marble Fragments during your activities, as well as a Left Medallion Piece if you get the yellow treasure chest during the obstacle course challenge.
Meet Phil back where you first met in the forest area. Remove the thorns blocking Artemis’ pedestal.
Interact with the pedestal to remove the fog blocking your path. Continue through the forest, lighting all the pedestals.
Remove any obstacles, and pick up the ingredients that are lying around the forest. Talk to Hercules when you find him.
This will complete the ‘Moonlighting As A Hero‘ quest, and give you the next one, ‘Speedrun Crash Course‘.
