Some of the best cozy games involve the ability to immerse yourself in a safe, calm world and do mundane tasks. Heartopia is a cute game that lets you be as immersive as you want.
You can craft a whole life complete with hobbies, friends, and even adorable little pets. Find out how you can get your very own cat and/or dog in this game.
Prerequisites For Getting Pets In Heartopia

To get pets in the Heartopia game, you’ll need to advance first:
- Learn all other hobbies first
- Cooking
- Bug Catching
- Bird Watching
- Fishing
- Gardening
- Increase your D.G. Member level to 12
You can check your current D.G. Member level by using the ‘Watch’ menu and selecting the ‘D.G. Member’s Guild’. The icon for the guild will also show the number of your level for a quick reference.
You’ll get some initial quests from Mrs. Joan before you unlock pet care. Complete those quests when you get them to avoid any confusion with any pet-care quests in the future.
Choosing Your Pets

The first pet you can get is a cat. You’ll unlock dog caring once you have a cat and have interacted with it a bit.
You’ll be able to give the pets you adopt a custom name. If you decide you want a different name later, you can change it in the ‘Pets’ section of the watch interface.
Pets have personality traits that you can view before you adopt them. You’ll also be able to see the gender of the pet as well.
Cats and dogs both have options that allow you to ‘play’ or ‘train’ them. You’ll eventually be able to unlock more poses as you interact with your pets.
| Mrs. Joan tells you these pets are part of your family when you adopt them. You cannot give the pets back, so make sure you pick one you really like. |
The pets that are available for adoption will change each real-life day. If you aren’t completely sold on any of the pets, take your time choosing your fluffy companion.
Keep visiting the shop until you find one you really like. Your first cat and dog will cost 500 gold each.
As you increase your hobby skill levels for Cat Caring and Dog Caring, you’ll be able to adopt up to 5 cats, and up to 3 dogs. Since the game may change and evolve, this may also change in the future.
You can view future Cat and Dog Caring hobby skill rewards by checking the ‘Hobby’ section in the watch interface. You’ll also need to have hobby upgrade tickets in order to upgrade to each new level for Cat Caring and Dog Caring.
Pet Care Basics

When you purchase your first cat or dog, you’ll receive a little bit of cat or dog food, depending on what you adopt. You can also feed them plenty of other things if you run out of pet food.
Selecting the food bowl icon above your pet’s head will show you anything you have that can be fed to your pet. Some pets may be fine with the pet food, and others may want variety.
Likewise some pets love to be petted frequently, while others may only want to be petted once per day. You’ll have to get to know your individual pets through trial and error.
You can take your pet with you when you roam around town, but make sure not to get too far away from them. If you get separated, your pet will teleport back to your home.
To play with, train, clean, or do anything else with your pet, choose the paw print icon that appears above its head. You can even collect costumes for your new pets and apply them through the same paw print menu interface.
Good luck choosing your first pets in Heartopia. Enjoy lots of fun playing with, cleaning, and caring for your new fluffy friends.
