If you’re just discovering the world of Palia, you’ll have plenty to keep you busy. The game doesn’t always tell you how to get certain things, though, which can limit your progress.
If you’ve ever wondered how to acquire Silk Thread and Silk fabric, you’re not alone. Many items in Palia are designed to imitate real-life processes, so we’ll tell you how to get both items in the game.
How To Get Silk Thread

Every so often you may need to give Silk Thread to one of the villagers, or use Silk in a furniture crafting recipe. Silk Thread is something you’ll definitely want to have on-hand for those times when you want to get some crafting done.
It can also be a bit time-consuming to get. You’ll need to use your bug-catching skills to obtain it. You can get Silk Thread from bugs in the following regions:
- Kilima Village
- Bahari Bay
The trick is that not every bug gives Silk Thread. The rarer bugs tend to give some Silk Thread, and often the better the rarity the more Silk Thread you’ll receive.
Amounts received can also vary. You might get 1 piece of Silk Thread, or 3, for example. Here are some bugs that will allow you to get Silk Thread:
- Gossamer Veil Moth
- Spotted Mantis
- Hairy Millipede
- Scintillating Centipede
- Princess Ladybug
- Vampire Crab
- Spitfire Cicade
- Rainbow-Tipped Butterfly
- Fire-Breathing Dragonfly
- Golden Glory Bee
You may also need to catch multiple rare bugs in order to get Silk Thread. Some bugs have a “chance” to drop it, rather than being a guaranteed drop.
How To Make Silk Fabric

Crafting your own Silk fabric comes in handy when you’re in the middle of a crafting frenzy, but you’ll probably want to plan ahead. It takes a while for the Fabric Loom to create a piece of Silk fabric.
A piece of Silk takes 10 minutes to complete on the Fabric Loom. You’ll need 5 pieces of Silk Thread to be able to craft 1 Silk fabric.
You’ll need to purchase a Crafting License at the Town Hall cash register. This increases the number of crafting machines you can put on your home plot. License prices vary depending on how many Crafting Licenses you’ve previously purchased.
You’ll also need to purchase the recipe for a Fabric Loom from Tish, the local Carpentry mentor. The Fabric Loom recipe costs 50 gold, and you’ll purchase it from her personal store, not the cash register. You’ll need the following materials to craft one:
- 15 Sapwood Planks
- 20 Plant Fiber
- 2 Copper Bars
- 5 Ceramic
You can also purchase Silk fabric from the cash register in Tish’s furniture shop in Kilima Village. One piece of Silk fabric costs 900 gold.
As long as you’ve already obtained Silk Thread and Silk fabric on your own, you can also use the Social Request system in-game to ask for someone to send you some.
