Disney Dreamlight Valley introduced two new characters, Joy and Sadness. As you get to know Joy, she’ll have ways to make Dreamlight Valley a bit more lively.
She’s got an idea for a game Riley loves to play, but she wants to put a magical valley-style twist on it for fun. Help her bring some smiles to familiar villagers.
Prerequisites For ‘Capture The Sun’
To get the ‘Capture The Sun’ quest, you’ll need to do the following:
- Welcome Joy and Sadness to Dreamlight Valley.
- Unlock Peaceful Meadow biome.
- Unlock the following characters:
- Donald Duck
- Vanellope
- Scrooge McDuck
- Have Joy at friendship level 2 or higher.
Talk To Joy
To get this quest started, you’ll need to talk to Joy. After your discussion, you’ll need to work with her to find the best spot for a game of ‘Capture The Sun’.
You’ll need to take pictures of each location she gives you. If Joy doesn’t automatically follow you, request to hang out. She’ll need to show up in the selfies to advance the quest.
Take selfies with Joy at the following locations:
- Southern edge of the Peaceful Meadow.
- Near the wishing well in the Plaza.
- Inside the Dream Castle.
After taking the necessary pictures, talk to Joy. You’ll be able to give Joy your personal recommendation for the best place to play ‘Capture The Sun’.
After choosing the best place for the game, you’ll need to invite a few villagers to play. Talk to the following villagers about the new game:
- Merlin
- Donald Duck
- Goofy
- Vanellope
You’ll need to do some crafting for the game supplies once you have invited all the players. You’ll need to craft 5 Flag Poles.
You’ll find the recipe for them in the ‘Functional Items’ tab of the Crafting Recipes. You can make these at any crafting station.
Collect the following materials for the Flag Poles:
- 50 Softwood
- 25 Yellow Daisies
- 5 Topaz
Next, wear something yellow and meet Joy at the place you chose for the ‘Capture The Sun’ game. Take a picture of everyone before the game, then talk to Joy to begin the game.
You’ll see floating suns zooming around the area. If you get close enough to them, you should be able to interact with them to pick them up.
When you’ve caught 3 floating suns, return to the Flag Pole that’s sparkling and interact to deliver the suns. This will finish the game mode.
Talk to Joy once the game is over to get your prize. Open the prize bag, which should be in your inventory. Talk to Joy about the prize after opening it. This will complete the ‘Capture The Sun’ quest, but will also undoubtedly leave you with some…concerns.
