Birthday mini-events in Hello Kitty Island Adventure work a little differently than birthdays in other games. Typically you need to celebrate it on the exact day in many other games that actively promote character birthdays.
In Hello Kitty Island Adventure, you’re able to spend a few days celebrating the Sanrio characters you know and love. Badtz-Maru’s actual birthday is April 1st, April Fools’ Day. You should pick up the quest to start his celebration as soon as possible.
How To Get The Quest For Badtz-Maru’s Birthday
To get the quest for Badtz-Maru’s birthday celebration, you’ll want to talk to My Melody. She will have a quest for you and will either be in her house or in the Resort Plaza unless she has a different quest in-progress already.
Once you chat with her, you’ll automatically get the quest relating to Badtz-Maru’s birthday blues: ‘The Most Epic Prank Ever’. You’ll also want to start collecting pineapples and rubber to gather special Badtz-Maru decorating kits.
Talk To Badtz-Maru
The next step after obtaining the quest is to speak to Badtz-Maru himself. It’s your job to find out why he seems down, especially around his birthday.
After uncovering the source of Badtz-Maru’s case of the blues, you can continue with the quest by talking to Kuromi. While you’re doing the quest, it’s also a great time to give gifts, so make sure you have characters’ favorite gifts in your inventory.
Talk To Kuromi
Chat with Kuromi about prank ideas. You can usually find her in the Spooky Swamp around the Fwishing Well, or in the potion shop if you’ve unlocked it.
Kuromi definitely has some prank ideas of her own. She’ll need your help though. You’ll need to hand over 3 Lily Frogs. You can find them right in the Spooky Swamp if you don’t happen to have enough in your inventory.
Talk To Kerropi
When it comes to Badtz-Maru, one prank is definitely not enough. Luckily, Kuromi mentioned you should speak to Kerropi. It’s a perfect opportunity to get more prank ideas.
Keroppi has a prank lined up as a present for Badtz-Maru, but he’s in need of a few more items. He needs 2 comics, and 10 pieces of paper.
You’ll need to have 1 Badtz-Maru comic, and 1 Froggy Power comic to give Keroppi, along with the paper. Kerropi also would like you to check on Hello Kitty’s party plans while he finishes his comic book present.
Talk To Hello Kitty
It’s a good thing you’re checking on Hello Kitty. She’s lacking some inspiration for the right kind of cake to make for Badtz-Maru. She needs your help, so make sure to bring along 4 pizzas for inspiration.
You’ll need the following pizzas:
1 Dessert Pizza
1 Veggie Pizza
1 Pineapple Pizza
1 Fruit Pizza
You’ll need to have access to Mount Hothead to be able to make pizzas, as well as gifts for Retsuko to get the dough you’ll need to use in the pizza oven.
Talk To Badtz-Maru
It’s time to talk to Badtz-Maru about prank ideas. You’ll lead him right to the prank party.
As a reward you’ll receive a party favor bag from Badtz-Maru and the crafting plans to make his special balloons. You can also use the decorating kits you found to whip up some Badtz-Maru birthday cakes.
For the balloons, you’ll need:
- 25 Rubber
- 5 Iron (ore, not bars)
- 15 Paper
Craft these at a crafting station. There’s one next to Chococat’s tent. If you don’t have access to the crafting station yet, you’ll need to progress your friendship level with Chococat.
For the birthday cake, you’ll need:
- 1 Flour
- 1 Badtz-Maru’s Decorating Kit
This will be baked in an oven, such as the one at Hello Kitty Cafe.
Balloons and cake can be placed in cabins. The Badtz-Maru cake can be given as a gift to Badtz-Maru. Try giving him one of his special cakes after you complete this quest.
