There are not many prerequisites for ‘The Magic of Friendship’ quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley. All you need to do is have a villager at friendship level 10.

It’s possible you may need to reach a certain point in the main story progression before you can get the quest from Merlin. If you’re just starting your Disney Dreamlight Valley journey and you have a villager at friendship level 10, make sure you do any other tasks Merlin gives you to see if that will give you the quest.

Talk To Merlin

To get this quest started, just talk to Merlin. He has some new discoveries about how the magic of friendship works in Dreamlight Valley.

You’ll need to choose a villager who is at least friendship level 7 and ask to collect an item for you. Wait 1 real-life day and check back in with that same character to get the items they collected for you.

Talk to Merlin about the results. He’ll suggest that you hang out with a villager to further witness the benefits of friendship magic.

Choose a villager who is at friendship level 10 and interact with them by giving them daily favorite items, having a daily chat, and hanging out. This should help you gain a “Friendship Glow” boost.

Once the yellow bar appearing above your villager friend is full, you’ll see that the right-hand side of your screen shows yellow arrows instead of the usual white ones. This lets you know that you have the Friendship Glow boost.

The Best Friend Glow indicator is the set of yellow arrows in the lower right-hand corner of the image. Without the Best Friend Glow, the arrows are white.

While the Best Friend Glow is active you’ll have sprint energy, and the companion with a filled Friendship Glow bar will be able to collect more of the items you ask them to find. Talk to Merlin once those arrows have turned yellow.

You’ll be able to teleport directly to that character with the full Friendship Glow bar, as well as glide around without using your stamina/energy. The quest completes at the end of your conversation with Merlin.
