Ranching is a new skill that has been added to Palia. Who better to teach you about caring for animals than the Daiya family?

Prerequisites For The ‘Ranching 101 Quest
To get the Ranching 101 quest, you’ll need to do a couple things first:
- Complete the ‘Like a Bird‘ quest (have a glider).
- If you have other visitors at your housing plot, you will need to accept those quests first.
You can check the status of the ‘Ranching 101’ quest by visiting the main menu in the ‘Quests’ tab. In the ‘Quests’ category, you’ll find it under the ‘Skills’ section.
Talk To Delaila
When Delaila visits your housing plot, she may not have a quest marker above her head. Talk to her to begin the Ranching 101 quest. She should automatically discuss the situation.
After the chat, Delaila should give you a furniture piece called a Barn Bell. It should be located in your inventory. You’ll need to place the bell and interact with it to begin the Ranching 101 lesson.
You’ll be teleported to the special ranching area. You should see Delaila in the area. Talk to her to get the next instructions. You’ll need to feed and pet your Pekis.
You’ll automatically have corn in your inventory for feeding the Pekis. The Pekis should be located in the large barn, or wandering in the area just in front of the barn within the fenced area.
Interact with the Pekis to name them whatever you want. When you interact with them, you’ll also have icons at the bottom of your screen to indicate feeding and petting.
Feed each Peki 1 corn, and pet each one at least 1 time. Return to Delaila and chat with her. She’ll let you know that it will take some time before the Pekis will start laying eggs. She mentions it will be a couple days.
This will complete the quest. There will be a reference table next to the cash register with lots of valuable information about how ranching works.
To the right of the barn gate will be an Animal Roster book. Interact with this to view all the animals you’re caring for, and how each one is progressing.
You’ll start with Pekis. As you care for the Pekis, you’ll eventually unlock caring for other animals once you’ve proven you’re taking good care of the Pekis.
To get back to your home, you can simply walk out of the ranch area entrance. You should be teleported right back to your housing plot.
