In Palia, Reth is a familiar sight behind the bar at the local inn. He’s always looking for new dishes to add to the menu, and worrying about having enough food for everyone.
No one goes hungry in Kilima Village if Reth has anything to say about it, so it’s no surprise when he’s concerned that Jel hasn’t had a meal in a while. He wants your help to figure out what food Jel might be craving.
Prerequisites For ‘Food For Thought’
To get the ‘Food For Thought’ quest, you’ll need to do the following:
Have Reth at friendship level 2 or higher.
Have Jel at friendship level 2 or higher.
Have Cooking skill at level 8 or higher.
Once these are met, you can talk to Reth to begin the quest. If you need to check the status of the quest, you’ll find it in the ‘Quests’ section of the main menu. It’ll be under the regular ‘Quests’ since it’s a discovery quest, rather than a main story quest.
Talk To Tish
Since Tish and Jel are besties, it’s a good idea to talk to Tish to see if she knows what food might interest Jel. Unfortunately, she knows what he probably doesn’t want, but not what would entice him from his current obsession.
You’ll be able to ask Jel directly as well, although he won’t give you any answers. There is a book near the exit of his shop, however, that may provide the necessary clue to what he’d like to eat.
Return to Reth after reading the book to tell him what you’ve learned. It turns out Jel is craving pumpkin soup, but Reth doesn’t have any pumpkins.
You’ll need to either purchase 5 pumpkins from the Daiya farm stall, or grow them yourself. If you purchase them, they cost 350 gold per pumpkin.
To grow them, you’ll still need to purchase enough pumpkins to get 1-2 seeds so that you can grow more of them. One pumpkin will give you 4 seed packets.
The pumpkins will yield more than a single harvest, so you may only need to plant 1-2 unless you want to grow the pumpkins faster to get everything you need in a single harvest.
Once you deliver the 5 pumpkins to Reth, he’ll whip up some soup and you’ll be able to meet him and Jel to share a meal. Head to Jel’s store for the meetup.
When you get to Jel’s store, chat with him to start the meetup. This will complete the quest.
