The underwater area, Rainbow Reef, in Hello Kitty Island Adventures is teeming with vibrant plants and creatures. You can see schools of fish, and swim through a kelp maze.
Though you can plant certain spots to grow colorful coral reefs, you may also want to catch some of the beautiful creatures as well. You can fish like normal, but you’ll need a different tool to help you while swimming underwater.
Prerequisites For The ‘Magic Bubble Wand’ Quest

Here’s what you’ll need to accomplish to get this quest:
- Have Hangyodon at friendship level 6 or higher.
- Complete ‘Comic Relief‘ quest.
- Have access to Rainbow Reef.
- Have access to Mount Hothead.
- Have access to Gemstone Mountain.
- Have flippers.
- Have mermaid ability.
- Have Keroppi at friendship level 2 or higher.
- Have Kuromi at friendship level 6 or higher.
- Have Pekkle at friendship level 5 or higher.
- Complete ‘Power Up The Gate‘ quest.
- Complete ‘Enraging Ruins‘ quest.
- Complete Keroppi’s, Kuromi’s, and Pekkle’s friendship level quests for the levels listed above.
Talk to Hangyodon to begin the quest. You can check your quest log under the “Right Tools” section to see if you have this quest.
Talk To Hangyodon

When you chat with Hangyodon, he’s got an…interesting request. He wants you to catch some sea critters called Sapphire Seaponies for the Comedy Club.
He will automatically follow you after your discussion. Once you leave the Comedy Club, if you begin swimming to the left of the club, he will swim ahead of you to lead the way, but he’s quite fast.
You’ll want to head toward the recycling plant. There should be a TOPHAT bulletin board nearby, and you’ll meet Hangyodon there.
Talk to Hangyodon at the bulletin board. You may need to wait until you see the blue exclamation mark before speaking with him. Otherwise you’ll receive normal chat dialogue instead of quest-based dialogue.
| If you don’t see a blue exclamation point above Hangyodon after waiting a little bit, try doing a normal chat with him. The blue exclamation point should appear after a regular discussion with him. |
Hangyodon thinks the sign is a little weird, and mentions he found a key on the sign. If you interact with the board you can see a picture-based location of somewhere in Rainbow Reef.
On the far left side of the image, you can see a chest covered in chains. You’ll need to head to the Sunken Ship to find this chest.
If you have the fast-travel waypoint for the Sunken Ship, that’s the fastest way to get to the correct area. The map will show a green circled search area to help you navigate.
From the Sunken Ship fast-travel waypoint, swim upward to get a better view. You should see the chained chest a little to the left of the waypoint.
Unlock the chest to receive a ‘Bubble Wand Plan Piece‘. Return to Hangyodon for a chat. You can use the Cozy Islands fast-travel to get close, then swim the rest of the way back to the bulletin board. Hangyodon will suggest visiting another similar sign at the Hot Springs.
Find The Hot Springs Sign

The Hot Springs fast-travel waypoint is the best one to use to get to the area. You can also see a bubble wand icon on your map and minimap to show you the way to the sign.
Retsuko will also be at the Hot Springs sign. Talk to her when you arrive. She’ll give you a key that she found on the sign. You’ll also be shown the location of another chained chest.
You can interact with the sign to see the image again whenever you need it. Another green search zone will appear on your map to help.
To the left of the Hot Springs waypoint, there is a pond with two waterfalls. Climb up the ledge near house 2.
You should arrive right at the treasure chest. You may need a Stamina Recharge Potion to help you make it, depending on how much you’ve upgraded your stamina.
Open the chest to retrieve another ‘Bubble Wand Plan Piece’. Return to Retsuko to let her know what you found. It’s close enough to balloon float right to her.
She mentions that she’s seen another sign in the Crystal Caves. The Icy Peaks Entrance fast-travel waypoint is ideal to get to the Crystal Caves if you have it unlocked.
Find The Crystal Caves Sign

Meet Pekkle in front of the Crystal Caves entrance. Pekkle’s location and the bubble wand quest icon should show up on the map and minimap to guide you.
From the Icy Peak Entrance waypoint, you just need to hop down to the lower level near the train tracks. Talk to Pekkle when you arrive.
Pekkle will tell you to follow him into the Crystal Caves, but once you follow him inside, you won’t see him. He’ll be waiting for you to the left of the entrance.
Travel a little further to the left, and go through the purple mining doorway. Balloon across the area until you get to the chained chest. You’ll retrieve another ‘Bubble Wand Plan Piece’.
Return to Pekkle at the sign, and talk to him. He’ll recommend that you chat with Chococat to figure out what to do with the plan pieces.
Visit Chococat

Chococat should be in his usual spot by his tent near the Resort Gate. Use the gift function to give him the pieces of the Bubble Wand Plan.
Chococat will give put the pieces together and give you the completed Bubble Wand blueprint. Here’s what you’ll need to collect and craft to make the wand:
- 20 Starfish
- 5 Box Clams
- 3 Mechanisms (9 Gizmos)
Once you’ve crafted the Bubble Wand, head back to the Comedy Club. You’ll need to search the green zone on your map for Sapphire Seaponies.
You’ll need to catch a total of 3 Sapphire Seaponies. They’ll be blue and purple. The Bubble Wand will work like other tools, and will show up in your tool wheel in the bottom right of your screen.
The bubbles from the Bubble Wand will move straight ahead when you activate the wand. Once you’ve captured something, just swim up to the bubble to collect it.
Sometimes multiple bubbles are necessary to catch creatures, but for these Sapphire Seaponies, you should only need to use one bubble to capture them.
Use the gift feature to hand the 3 seaponies over to Hangyodon. He should be back inside the Comedy Club. You’ll receive 5 candlenuts for completing the quest, as well as the Bubble Wand itself.
